Captiva Island Yacht Club

Activities / Arts and Education

The Art and Education Committee selects a featured artist each month to exhibit their work in the clubhouse. Artists come from our local community while others are our own talented club members. Mixed media as well as photography are on display in the main dining room. “Meet The Artist” events are often incorporated into a TGIF night. Be sure to check out the beautiful artwork on our walls and consider a purchase for your island home.

For our more adventurous members who want to bring out their creative side there are opportunities to learn for new artist techniques such as Plein Air painting. This past year we were also able to enjoy a private film by Rusty Faust titled “ Artists and Authors of Captiva Island”.

The Environmental Committee

Environmental Education is an important aspect of the CIYC. Located on a barrier island, surrounded by nature and conservation land the CIYC presents two environmental programs each year that are open to the public. Lectures by prominent conservationists draw a crowd of members and local islanders. This past year club members enjoyed a presentation from Khristy Anders of SCCF, titled "The Islands of Pine Island Sound".  We are looking forward to our upcoming Everglades Foundation Program in February.
